We test the DUUX day 2 DXHU14UK humidifier against the negative effects of central heating, colds and winter weather.
A reliable humidifier for the colder winter months can mean the difference between an overly dry living environment caused by factors such as a heating season lasting several weeks and a cure for your skin, sore throat, and nasal congestion.
If you have allergies that last into the second half of the year or are struggling with persistent cold symptoms when it’s chilly outside, a humidifier like the Duux Day 2 can help relieve everything from nighttime snoring to dry skin to headaches. You can also find a ranking of the best humidifiers in our guide.
Past testing has usually shown Duux units to be well designed and easy to use, and the Day 2 humidifier is no different. We tested it to see if it could improve the indoor climate in winter.

Duux Day 2 humidifier: setup

Setting up the Duux Day 2 is incredibly easy and only takes a few steps before you can get started. The sample we received had a US plug so we had to use an adapter and then all we had to do was remove the top of the humidifier and lift out the tank inside. At the bottom of this tank is a wheel that must be unscrewed before filling and that releases the lime-fighting cartridge that promises to prevent bacteria and white deposits.
The 2.5 liter water tank is a good size and Duux claims it will last up to ten hours. This is ideal if you plan to use the humidifier at night and it will turn itself off when the water tank is empty. You also get a warning light so you don’t have to wait until it is completely dry to refill.
Since the humidifier works with ultrasound technology, the resulting steam feels cool and thus prevents the risk of burns for pets and children. There are two settings that can be toggled with the “Min” and “Max” controls on the side, so you can choose how much additional moisture you need in the air. More settings here would have been nice, but most people won’t mind swapping the adjustment for simplicity.
You can also add essential oils of your choice to the water if you want to incorporate some aromatherapy into things. Just add a few droplets of your favorite scent to the water.
Duux Day 2 humidifier: design

The design of the Duux Tag 2 is just gorgeous, with its matte black (or white) case and wood-look legs, it’s one of the most stylish air quality devices we’ve seen. It’s so stylish that it fits in most living styles too, so minimalists and maximalists alike can incorporate it into their living space. The blue and red lights may ruin things for some people, but luckily there is a control that turns this off so it can be safely used in the bedroom while sleeping.
We also love how easy the Duux can be taken apart for refilling or cleaning. When you use the leather strap to lift the top cover off, you don’t have to mess with awkward latches or screws.
Duux Day 2 humidifier: Our verdict

Solid, feature-rich air quality devices with an eye for style are few and far between, so it’s exciting to see how Duux thought about both functions and aesthetics with the Day 2 humidifier. While it lacks smart features, or really so many other functions than two speeds, this relative immaturity will appeal to a lot of people who want to just turn their devices on and forget about them. And it gets points if it looks good when not in use and serves as a diffuser for essential oils.
